WIN’S LEADERSHIP:
 
WIN is a democratically controlled membership organization. WIN is governed by 1) a Strategy Team of clergy and lay leaders which set the strategic direction for the organization and 2) an Action Team of 150+ leaders from the member institutions (2 votes per institution) that discuss, ratify, and implement all WIN’s major campaigns and actions.

Note: WIN Strategy Team, elected by the Action Team, is open to leaders from all WIN member institutions who 1) have a following of at least 25 leaders, 2) can commit 8-10 hours per month to work on WIN, 3) help raise funds including dues to support the organization, 4) have participated in WIN 3-Day Leadership Training, 5) commit to attend IAF National 10-Day Training within one-year of joining the Strategy Team, and 6) organize/lead WIN local and city-wide actions. Speak to a WIN organizer or Strategy Team member if you are interested in learning more about this leadership opportunity.
 
WIN’S STAFFING:
 
WIN has 4 full-time organizers and 1 part-time office manager. The organizers organize and train leaders in a variety of member institutions and work on the universals of broad-based organizing and on a variety of issue campaigns. WIN staff members are:
 
1)      Martin Paul Trimble has been WIN’s Lead Organizer since September 1997. Mr. Trimble supervises and trains the other WIN organizers and provides strategic oversight of WIN’s citywide campaigns. He also is the lead organizer of VOICE-Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement—the new IAF organization in Northern Virginia and formed in 2008. Mr. Trimble has organized with the Industrial Areas Foundation for 13 years in Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia.
 
2)      Coleman Milling has been WIN’s Senior Organizer for 4 years.Mr. Milling does direct organizing in member institutions in Wards # 2, 4, 5, & 7. Mr. Milling has organized with the Industrial Areas Foundation for 11 years in Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC.
 
3)      Timothy Tilghman has been Senior Organizer with WIN since September 2000. Mr. Tilghman does direct organizing in a variety of member institutions in Ward # 2, 3, and 8 as well as working with WIN’s Ft. Dupont Nehemiah Homeownership team.
 
4)      Amy Vruno has been an Associate Organizer with WIN since January 2006. Previously, Ms. Vruno worked as a legal services attorney with the DC Employment Justice Center. Ms. Vruno does direct organizing in a variety of member congregations and schools in Wards # 1, 2, 5, & 6. She speaks Spanish.
 
5)      Yvette Barnes has been WIN’s part-time office manager since 2005.  She is responsible for WIN’s financial management and providing administrative support to the WIN organizers.
